Last Day in Delray

I had some 4 foot canvas prints made at Dali Decals for my mom & Hank's dining room. One wall has an old iPhone 5 pic of a wine glass at sunset from Marcy & Amy's wedding on Shelter Island in 2013.

The other wall has a pic of driftwood that I shot on Jeckyll Island on the way home from the Masters in 2009.

Time to head home with my co-pilot Stella. She knows it's a long drive!

Tree Trimming Nightmare!

It was not a good day for tree trimming! It took over 3 months to get an appointment because of the hurricane.

Has anyone seen Stella?

They came 5 hours early & I couldn't stay home to supervise. While I was gone, they took out a 12 foot tall Tasmanian Fern Palm they weren't supposed to remove! Now I have a hole in the middle of my brick paver patio. Ugh! I'm told the whole patio will cave in as the root ball rots.

Old Car City

Truly a Photographer's (or Photorafers, as the sign says) Paradise!

Over 34 acres
Over 4,000 cars (1920-1972)
Over 6 miles of trails
Family owned & operated since 1931

From the photo below ...
It all started in 1931 by a man named "Walt" & "Lucille" his wife. They owned a small general store with a gas pump & wood floors. They worked every day with no time off & little pay. Times were tough & money was rare. Conditions were rough but people were fair.

Now "Walt" had a few old cars, they were beaten & battered & some had scars. When he wasn't working in the mine, he would sell spare parts to people who'd buy them. Anything to make an extra honest dollar. He had to work hard, be a good husband & father. He had to provide & keep away the worry they had to survive & continue the Lewis Family Story.

Now Dean was "Walt's" boy & he grew up playing in these old cars. A million miles they would go pretending they were cowboys & chasing Geronimo. "Walt" had no idea the passion he had instilled in his child. But Dean's love for cars went far beyond the parts "Walt" had piled, so for Walt's son, he was going to make it big someday. It all started in 1931 & would become known as Old Car City, USA.

The Doodool Room features Dean's styrofoam cup art.

So many cups! Every one is different & really creative.

I think they need more display shelves  ;-)

One the way out, I was lucky enough to meet Dean. I told him how much we enjoyed our visit & that I would be there weekly if I lived closer. Here's a link to the feature on CBS Sunday Morning.

I'll definitely be coming back to White, GA.
