Bern's Steakhouse

When Mary & I knew we were gonna be in Tampa overnight, we immediately made a reservation for Bern's Steakhouse. I don't think I've been here in over 20 years. Whenever I had assignments in Tampa, I always made dinner reservations before I would book my hotel or travel. One year I remember some of the photographers I was having dinner with, had to back out because Princess Diana was going to be there for dinner & they had to be outside for her arrival & departure. When we valeted the car we noticed fireworks down the street. We shot some pix before Lauren & Mike arrived.

I started with French Onion Soup Au Gratin.

Then I had Filet Mignon with fresh veggies from their farm.

After dinner you can go on a tour of the kitchen & wine cellar before going to the Harry Waugh Dessert Room.

They use 400lbs of onions per night!

The kitchen is always so clean!

The wine cellar in the restaurant has 150,000 bottles. Their warehouse across the street houses an additional 600,000 bottles.

The most expensive bottle is $49,000 from 1845.

Each dessert room has a private enclosed table. You can call the piano player with requests or pick a genre for the type of music you'd like in your room.

I can't believe I didn't take any pix of dessert!!! That's so unlike me!
