Ellis Island Hard Hat Tour

From 1892 to 1954, over 12 million immigrants entered USA through the portal of Ellis Island in New York Harbor.

Today Mary & I went on a very cool Hard Hat Tour of the 750-bed Ellis Island Hospital, including infectious & contagious disease wards, kitchen, mortuary & autopsy rooms. At its peak of operation in the early 20th century, this was the largest public health service facility in the United States. The hospital was later transformed to the FBI headquarters when the island served as a detention center, but it has been left to decay for nearly 60 years ... & I love photographing rust & peeling paint.

The Hard Hat Tour is a program developed & administered by Save Ellis Island, Inc. All proceeds from the tour go to the restoration & preservation of the historic south side buildings.

For some reason these viewers bring back so many childhood memories of Jones Beach.

Post PCup Monday

We went up on the clubhouse roof to check out Chris' Earthcam time-lapse. It's been running from build-out thru competition & will continue to record the tear-down.

Sunday at Presidents Cup

Liberty National front gate

Heading to the main entrance with Mary.

Media Center

To get from the Media Center to the 14th green, you had to go thru a full-body search before climbing the 4 flights of stairs. I was surprised when my FitBit showed I did 54 flights today. That's a LOT of searches!

This is the first time a sitting President has been at Presidents Cup. 'Nuff said.

After the photographers were in position to shoot the trophy ceremony, everyone had to leave their gear & back up ten feet for a dog search.
