Recovery :o)

The doorbell rang & my mom went to answer it. It was a flower delivery from my officemates in a nice smiley mug. It was perfect! For a week my mom has been driving me crazy insisting that something needed to be put in the middle of the mantle. These flowers were the perfect height, so now we're both happy.

Surgery

Today I had to have surgery. I never had surgery before, so I was dreading it. I've only been in the hospital twice (I had my tonsils out when I was 6 & I needed 118 stitches after I ran thru a glass door when I was 8).

That anesthesia is amazing. I don't remember a thing! The surgery was laparoscopic, so my doctor (who BTW, was the Top Gun winner in the Laparoscopic Skills Shoot Out in 2005) expects me to recover in 2 weeks. My incisions are glued (not stitched) so that's pretty cool. My Mom & Hank are here taking care of me. Hank went to Publix to pick up some groceries & came back with some flowers. Publix wouldn't fill my Rx until I filled out a long form, so Hank brought it back to the house.

Then my mom went out & decided to fill my Rx at Target since the pharmacy is open later. She came back with the COOLEST pill bottle I've ever seen! The 2 different links above will tell you everything you want to know about these cool bottles. As long as I'm doped up on Percocet, I'll be fine.

Since you can't take Percocet on an empty stomach & the anesthesia/pain killers were wearing off, I asked my mom to make me a PB&J sandwich. I've been on a big PB&J kick lately, making the most delicious PB&J on earth using Archer Farms Multi-grain Artisan bread, Smuckers Red Raspberry Preserves with Splenda and Skippy Super Chunk Natural Peanut Butter. I told her where to find all of the ingredients. After she made it, she proudly strolled into my bedroom with her interpretation of my PB&J sandwich. She couldn't possibly be serious! The sandwich was open face & the size of my thumb!!! How can you even cut the bread that small?!? Please keep in mind that I hadn't had anything to eat since midnight (about 20 hours). What was she thinking?
The photo below is a reenactment, but even my mom says it's accurate. I put the quarter on the dish for scale.

Dogs & Donuts

Yesterday I got a reminder email about today's Dogs & Donuts event. I tore myself out of bed early this morning & went to North Park to make some new friends. This was a community get together for dog owners and dog lovers sponsored by the Marsh Landing Parks & Recreation committee.

Lexi the Labradoodle loves her Frisbee.

Foster was terrorizing all of the bigger dogs.

Two Wheaties enjoy their meet & greet (a 2 year-old boy with a Wheaten cut on the left & a 12 year-old girl with a puppy cut on the right).

A Weimaraner pup has some fun.

There's nothing softer than a freshly groomed Bearded Collie (except a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier of course).

This Havanese was going bonkers. She was really cute.

A Yorkie arrived in a bike basket dressed to the nines.

The Golden was retrieving.

Forget the doggie treats, Sophie the Cockapoo wants a donut.

Even though there was a lot of sniffing going on ...

... a good time was had by all ... especially me.

Virtual Tour

Holly & Bob, my realtors in Weston, had a virtual tour done of my house. It's pretty cool. After you click on the virtual tour link above, click on the panorama tab to see four tours (3 inside & 1 outside). Then click on the photo tab to see a gallery of 18 pictures. The MLS number is F840996. The house was finally put on the market earlier this month. Somebody please buy it.

The Wild Side of Employee Golf

The Creative Services team heads out to play the back nine after work.

The boys have no idea about the hazards they are about to encounter.

John is in surprisingly good spirits considering there's an 8 iron spearing thru his head.

This is "Gavin," Chris' head cover. Actually, when Mike asked what his name was, Chris said, "he doesn't have one." Mike thought he said, "Gavin." So Gavin it is!

Rob's bunker shot whizzed by my head while I was standing on the 10th green.

Unlike Rob, Mike wasn't aiming for me!

This fox was extremely bored watching our team ...

... and so was this heron.

Chris needs to get some black socks ...... or white golf shoes!

This gator was a little upset that nobody hit a golf ball snack in the water on 17.

Rob & Mike showed off their synchronized golfing routine on the famed island green.

While the fox was keeping himself amused with a branch, the heron was less than thrilled that I was stalking him.

This anhinga forgot that it can't fly with wet wings.

Golf, The Grandpa's Cup & The Fab Four

I had a full schedule today. I started off going to a demo day at TPC Sawgrass. I tried Nike, Cobra, Titleist & TaylorMade clubs. It's the first time I hit a golf ball since last July. I was a little rusty but it all came back to me. I also went to the TOUR Academy for a visit. Neil built this photogenic teaching tool in his garage.

I saw Calvin Peete with his 15 year-old protege on the range.

After golf, I was off to the long anticipated Grandpa's Cup ... aka Jana vs Rob or Superwoman vs Flash. The hype leading up to the match was unprecedented

Jana exhibited some premeditated unsportsmanlike conduct. She had her dad invite Rob & Mike to play 18 holes of golf prior to the match in an attempt to wear Rob out. It didn't work. Nobody held serve & Rob was pretty happy he was off to a strong start. It was 3 all in the first set.

Being a runner, Rob covered the court really well.

But Jana had only ONE thing on her mind ... the Grandpa's Cup!
I can't believe I didn't get a shot of Lee being a ballboy. I wonder if he knows Jana was a ballgirl at The Lipton when she was 13? I also didn't get a picture of the packed crowd.

It was REALLY hot, so the competitors doused each other with ice water during the changeovers.

The agony of defeat was followed by the thrill of victory.

The trophy ceremony was a sight to see.

Jana thinks I came to the match to take pictures. I was really there to scout. After the match I hit some balls with John Rice. Look out Jana ... you won't have that cup for long! If I knew I was gonna be involved in "theme" tennis matches, I never would have gotten rid of my Nike Agassi denim & neon spandex tennis shorts. That would really psych out Jana. The defending champion will have to pick the date, time & venue. I'm ready! How does next weekend sound? With all of Jana's trash-talking, I thought I'd have to practice. So Jana, would you like me to play lefty or blindfolded? Just kidding of course. I know you wouldn't want to have an unfair advantage.

Is it just me, or does the trophy look bigger in this photo?

After the match I did some shopping at Sam's Club & Super Target. I got home around 8pm & was exhausted ... then the phone rang. It was Chris & Beth. They wanted me to go to the Magical Mystery Tour concert at the clubhouse. I resisted at first then jumped in the shower, made a PB&J sandwich & headed out.

There were a lot of wardrobe changes, all of which included wigs & many layers of clothes. It was still really hot, so I'm not sure how John, Paul, George or Ringo handled the heat. We were really hot & we were wearing shorts.

The music was surprisingly good. I'm glad I went.

Scouting the Stadium course

Today John, Chris, Stan & I scouted the course for some upcoming shoots. There are still a few structures that need to be removed before we can shoot.

Busy Day

Last night we couldn't sleep at our house since the fumes were really bad, so we went to stay at Bobby & Patty's house. Tally thought we were there to pick her up. She had no idea what was going on since we've never slept there before. I put Tally's bed in between the two beds in Emily's room. She was thrilled. She wouldn't even get up in the morning when I was leaving to go meet the painters, so I dragged her bed across the house with her on it.

After the painters left, I went to dump all of my hazardous waste (paint, motor oil, & an old Apple 20" black & white monitor), since it's only accepted on Saturdays.

Tally was happy to be back in the passenger seat for a sleepover at my house this time.

Since Mary loves a challenge, tonight she did a lot of household repairs. First she replaced a rubber gasket in a toilet that started leaking yesterday. Then she uninstalled an instant hot dispenser + soap pump & plugged the holes in the sink where they came from. After the instant hot was fixed, the dishwasher & ice maker fixed themselves.
